Today President Serzh Sargsyan received the special envoy of the President of Turkey, Ambassador Unal Cevikoz.

The parties discussed issues pertaining to the upcoming visit of the President of Turkey to Armenia, who will arrive to Yerevan to watch the September 6 football match between the national teams of the two countries.

Assessing the visit of the special envoy from the neighboring country as a positive event, President Sargsyan said that it creates the opportunity to speak about the normalization of bilateral relations and to exchange views on the regional developments. According to the President of Armenia, the events unfolding in the Caucasus, which concern the entire world, demand great responsibility, raise serious issues, and presume distinct obligations.

The two sides discussed the Turkish initiative on the establishing the Caucasus stability and security platform. Noting, that the Prime Minister of Turkey has assumed a very challenging but important task, the President of Armenia said that he supports talking over and discussing any issue. “Armenia has always welcomed all the efforts aimed at the enhancement of confidence building, stability, security, and cooperation,” Serzh Sargsyan underlined and presented his view regarding the proposed platform.
