President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and Catholicos of All Armenians, His Holiness Garegin II are leaving for Crimea

On July 28, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and Catholicos of All Armenians, His Holiness Garegin II are leaving for Crimea to participate at the ceremony dedicated to the 650th Anniversary of the foundation of the ancient Armenian Holy Cross cloister. The Armenian delegation comprises the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Culture, Head of the Diaspora Committee at the Ministry of Foreign Ministry, and other officials.

The President of Armenia will attend the ceremony of consecration of the Holy Cross church to be performed by His Holiness, Garegin II.

The church of Holy Cross is an outstanding monument of the Medieval Armenian architecture and the spiritual center of the Armenians residing in Crimea. Through the ages it’s also been the Episcopal residence.

During his visit to Ukraine President Sargsyan will meet with his counterpart, Victor Yushchenko. The Ministers of Culture of the two states will sign the agreement on cooperation for years 2008-2012.
