Today President Serzh Sarkissian received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bulgaria to Armenia Todor Staykov

Ambassador Staykov presented to the President of Armenia the congratulatory message of the President of Bulgaria Georgi Prvanov as well as his invitation to the Armenian President to conduct an official visit to Bulgaria.

Serzh Sarkissian mentioned the importance of developing traditional partnership with Bulgaria and also the cooperation in the framework of European policy.

Hailing the existing high level of the political dialogue between Armenia and Bulgaria, Serzh Sarkissian noted that the economic relations between the two states are still lacking behind and stressed the priority of enhancing economic relations. The two sides stressed the importance of a prompt establishment of the Armenian-Bulgarian intergovernmental commission and resumption of its activities.

At the meeting the parties spoke also about the NK peace process and the belligerent calls often sounded by the Azeri side. According to the President of Armenia, on their accession to the European Council Armenia and Azerbaijan pledged to resolve all conflicts through peaceful means. At the same time he stated that the people of Nagorno Karabagh won their right to live in freedom and said that it is not possible to neglect the natural right of people for self-determination.
