Today President Serzh Sarkissian introduced the newly appointed Minister of Defense, Seyran Ohanian to the highest command of the Armed Forces
Serzh Sarkissian said that he knows S. Ohanian for over twenty years and cannot recall of any indiscretion on his behalf. He highly praised S. Ohanian’s participation at the formation and strengthening of the army.
According to the President of Armenia, the army will continue to remain in the focus of the state’s attention since today the army has to fulfill very important tasks. Serzh Sarkissian expressed confidence that under the leadership of the newly appointed Minister of Defense and the Chief of Staff the Ministry of Defense will successfully fulfill the assigned tasks and will further enhance the combat readiness of the army and carry on the process of reformation.
The President of Armenia thanked the former Minister of Defense, Mikhail Haroutunian for the efficient cooperation and expressed confidence that his experience and expertise will continue to contribute to the further development of the army.
Seiran Ohanian expressed his gratitude to the Commander-in-Chief for confidence placed in him and said that he assumes this position with a great sense of responsibility. He also said that their efforts will be directed toward further enforcement of the country’s defensibility and security, and raising the combat readiness of the army.
