President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan participated at the regular session of the Heads of State of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in Moscow
On September 5, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan participated at the regular session of the Heads of State of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in Moscow.
The delegation headed by the President of Armenia comprised Secretary of the National Security Council Arthur Bagdassarian, Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian, Minister of Defense Seiran Ohanian, Ambassador of Armenia to the Russian Federation Armen Smbatian, and other officials.
At the meeting, which took place in a close format, the Heads of State exchanged views on the possible developments of the military and political situation, and neutralization of the challenges and risks that may threaten collective security. They also spoke about the implementation of the decisions adopted at the previous session of the CSTO.
At the plenary meeting discussed were issues pertaining to the priorities of the Organization. Also were signed a number of documents which expand the legal field for the cooperation of the member states in political and military areas.
At the plenary meeting Armenia assumed the presidency of the Organization. President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan assured that “during her presidency Armenia will be persistent in ensuring further development of the CSTO and enhancement of its activities.”
