President Serzh Sargsyan’s visit to Kotayk marz
President Serzh Sargsyan today paid a working visit to Kotayk marz. The Armenian president visited Ecotomato CJSC, a rose-growing greenhouse complex, located in Goghtn, and familiarized himself with the works aimed at increasing the company’s production capacity, its investment and development projects, the new jobs and with the production process organized through the use of modern technologies.
The president was presented that at present, Ecotomato CJSC manages a greenhouse-complex with a total area of eight hectares, which is worth 7.7 billion drams, and about 120 jobs were created with an average salary of 140,000 dram. There are 24 rose varieties growing in the complex, 70-80 percent of production is exported to the RF, Belarus, Georgia, while 20-30 percent is realized in the domestic market. According to the executives, based on the indicators for the first quarter of 2015, Ecotomato CJSC plans to increase its production capacity to grow up to 10-13 million flowers annually.
The president also attended the opening ceremony of a cucumber greenhouse complex built by Armyanskiy Urazhay LLC in the same village. Here the Armenian president was presented that Armyanskiy Urazhay LLC, which was founded in February 2014, has hitherto made up to 10-million-dram investments, and has built a modern greenhouse complex with a total area of 10.5 hectares, which produces ecologically clean and safe food. As of April 30 2015, the company has exported about 1300 tons of products, which have been mainly realized in the RF and Georgia. Presently, the company employs around 280 people with an average salary of 125,000.
Afterwards, the Armenian president visited the cucumber greenhouse complex of Progress Agro LLC located in the village of Nor Geghi where construction of about a 50-hectare greenhouse complex has been undertaken. Serzh Sargsyan familiarized himself with the works implemented and the company’s upcoming projects. The president was informed that this 4.36-hectare greenhouse complex, which has been put into operation, was built using modern technologies. The greenhouse is worth about 7 million USD. The company employs around 70 people with an average monthly salary of 135,000 drams. According to the executives, the company is expected to put into operation new greenhouse farms with a total of 16-hectare area, which will create around 200 jobs additionally. Progress Agro plans to enlarge its greenhouse complex in the upcoming years. During the visit, the officials in charge of agriculture reported to the president on the overall state of greenhouse farming in the Republic of Armenia, its development trends and on the status of the respective public policy aimed at its promotion.
