Serzh Sargsyan attended the ceremony of inauguration of the new passenger terminal of Zvartnots International Airport
President Serzh Sargsyan attended today the ceremony of inauguration of the new passenger terminal of Zvartnots International Airport. The new terminal will be servicing 3.5 million passengers a year, in two separate flows of arriving and departing passengers. The terminal is to start operations in October.
In accordance with the agreement signed between the Government of Armenia and Corporation America Company, the Armenia International Airports company, which assumed management of Zvartnots airport in 2002, started its works aimed at the modernization of the airport’s infrastructure and structures, to bring provided services in line with international standards. The works were implemented in three stages: during the first stage, the Company renovated old infrastructure of the airport, including the runway and the airport airfield and built new structures. During the second stage, the Company took on the construction of a new passenger terminal with its arrival and departure halls. Construction, which commenced in 2004, was finished in 2007. The third stage - 2008-2011: construction of the new terminal, arrival and departure halls in the public area and parking structure.
After the ceremony of inauguration, President Serzh Sargsyan toured the premise and familiarized with the capacities of the new passenger terminal.
