Congratulatory Address by President Serzh Sargsyan on the occasion of the Day of Knowledge
Dear schoolchildren, teachers and parents,
Dear students and lecturers,
I congratulate you on the occasion of the Day of Knowledge.
Knowledge embodies the experience of our nation and the entire humankind, which every generation should pass on to the next. It must be passed on unadulterated, comprehensive and enriched. Nations preserve their national identity and the humankind preserve its identity first of all by passing on natural and spiritual knowledge. This is a guarantee of the continued existence of our system of values, of our future and our fortitude, because knowledge is power.
The processes of learning and teaching are complicated and difficult. Not a single mature person can achieve serious success effortlessly. So, I urge you to shrug off carelessness and nonchalance of the summer holidays and take up hard work.
Today is September 1, and our educational institutions open wide their doors. This day is special particularly for the first-graders; they will remember this festive day their entire life. I once again congratulate you all and wish you productive academic year.
