President Vahagn Khachaturyan sent a message of condolences on the death of Vardan Devrikyan.

“I learned with deep sorrow about the untimely demise of Vardan Devrikyan, a literary scholar and the Director of the Institute of Literature after M. Abeghyan of NSA of RA.

Vardan Devrikyan’s contribution to the development of Armenian literary science and journalism and documentation of the Karabakh movement and the war is indisputable.

Hundreds of his scientific and journalistic articles and monographs are an inexhaustible source of research for every philologist, historian and documentarian.

One cannot overestimate Vardan Devrikyan’s image as a person and as a citizen, which included an intellectual and an Officer of the Armenian Army.

My deepest condolences to the family, friends, colleagues and comrades in arms of Vardan Devrikyan.”
