President Vahagn Khachaturyan sent a letter of condolences on the death of the Armenian-American benefactor Flora Galustyan (Dunayants).
“The devastating earthquake of 1998 in Spitak and the visit to Armenia in 1990 drastically changed Flora Galustyan’s life.
Ever since that visit, the focus of Flora Galustyan's activities was Armenia, and her goal was to do everything possible for the development of the country and the preservation of Armenian identity in the Diaspora. To achieve that goal, in 1995 she created the Armenian Language Preservation Fund, together with a group of supporters.
When speaking of the recognition of Armenian culture and preservation of Armenian identity, we can’t fail to appreciate Flora Galustyan’s role.
Just ten days ago, Flora Galustyan was in Armenia again, with new plans and initiatives. Unfortunately, that visit was the last in her patriotic life. Surely, she left Armenia, taking the love of the Armenian people with her.
On behalf of the entire Armenian people and myself, I send my deepest condolences to Flora Galustyan's family and relatives."
