President expressed condolences on the demise of Rouben Shugarian: our nation lost one of its worthy sons
President Armen Sarkissian sent a letter of condolences on the demise of Rouben Shugarian.
“I learned with great sorrow and pain the news on the untimely demise of my friend, Ambassador Rouben Shugarian.
A descendent of the family of intellectuals in many generations, an accomplished and refined individual, he left his unforgettable footprint in the history of the Third Republic of Armenia. He laudably represented Armenia as ambassador to the United States of America and Italy, defended Armenia’s and Armenian people’s interests through his educational and research activities.
Mild and friendly in his manners, he was precise and principled in his words and deeds. Our friendship with Rouben started in his student years; on many issues our opinions and assessments were similar.
He left us in the age when he already had experience, knowledge and international recognition which he used and could have used for many years in the interests of the Fatherland.
More's the pity, our nation lost one of its worthy sons. At this difficult moment of irreversible loss, Nouneh and I send our deepest condolences to Rouben’s wife, children, family and friends.”
