President sent a message to the participants of the International Conference on Armenian Studies in Los Angeles
President Armen Sarkissian sent a message to the participants of the “Hidden Treasures Unearthed: Armenian Arts and Culture of Eastern Europe” International Conference held in Los Angeles on November 16-18.
The President stressed in particular that Armenia attaches great importance to the preservation, study, and promotion of the Armenian cultural heritage scattered across the globe.
“Armenian cultural legacy speaks to the common values we share today.
This heritage enriches the identity of its bearers, enhancing their spiritual and intellectual acuity, promoting their involvement in meaningful dialogue and fostering mutual respect. Through the experience of living in a multicultural environment, as well as their skills and knowledge, Armenians contributed to the development and advancement of the countries where they lived, became an indispensable factor in the international trade and goods exchange of the time, and it had left its imprint on the Armenian mentality, psychology and behavior as well as had influenced the political destiny of Armenia. Today, as Armenia reaffirms its independence acquired some 100 years ago on only a small part of its historical territories, the re-appreciation of Armenians’ intellectual and cultural genealogy acts as an important stimulus for the current generation in its task of nation-building for the future. I hope this conference will help our fellow Armenians in Armenia and beyond to better understand who we are, where we have come from, and where we are going,” President noted and expressed thanks to the organizers of the Conference and wished efficient work to the participants.
“Hidden Treasures Unearthed: Armenian Arts and Culture of Eastern Europe” International Conference was organized by the Narkeatsi Chair of the UCLA together with the Paul Getty Museum. The coordinator of the event is a famous specialist of Armenian Studies Peter Cowe.
